London Customs

When we arrived in London our bodies thought it was was about 11pm.  Considering we left home at 6am we are a little tired, perhaps that is why flight connections in London is something we dislike with a passion.

First delay getting a bordering pass for the Budapest flight. The up side is we leave out of the same terminal so we are the 3rd group to be helped by the British airways agents. Why this took 25 min or even longer is amazing of course one of the 2 agents working had to shut down their terminal and was replaced by a new person. That new person took care to wipe down her entire work station prior to starting. So we do get a fresh agent to take the 2 minutes to process boarding passes for us after waiting in line for 23.

Now on to TSA recheck. We are amazed that this has to be done since everyone in this area has just flown into the country and we are just passing through. Why another screening etc  no precheck like the US.

Of course they require everything removed from your body and pockets.  Those of you that know Dan understand that this exercise will not be simple. I am through and have collected both our backpacks and am waiting where shoes  can be replaced and laces tied.   They put Dan through the walk through twice then the total body scanner, then the TSA agent wand and pat down. I am watching and he lifts his shirt they ask him to remove his abdominal binder. He tried to explain to the agent he has large hernias but they are unimpressed. Goes to show watch what you ask for. It may be a while before the agent will request that again.  He was impressed.

Okay through screening and shoes on and I innocently ask  where is your passport and boarding pass. I know he was holding it in his hand when he went through the screening at the beginning.  A mad search begins rechecking all the bins, checking pockets, asking agents etc.  I finally ask did you put it in your passport holder that you wear before    The second time through the screener. Hurray it is there.

Off to the gate with about 5 minutes to boarding   No problem making the plane but somehow our business class tickets got bumped to economy and the back of the plane   At this point out California bodies say it is 12:30 in the morning and we are starting to fade.

Unfortunately it is at this time I figured out that my Fitbit watch has become lost.   My guess is that with all the excitement Dan had at TSA, I never put it back on and apparently left it.  One more travel experience.
